Dear colleagues and patients,

With the lock down announced by President Ramaphosa on Monday night we at Winelands Surgery would like to provide you with a service that keeps the safety and well being of our patients and staff as our highest priority. For this reason we need to scale down on non-emergency work in order to limit the spread of the disease.

We will be providing the following service during the lock down period:

• There will be a general surgeon on call every day so the emergency admissions will continue as normal via the emergency room or telephonic referral to us directly. Nothing will change here.
• Patients with acute problems who need to be seen in the rooms but do not need the ER or admission, please phone the doctor on call and they will advise how to proceed.
• Patients who are already booked for procedures and consultations. We are in the process of assessing each case on its own merit and will consult the patients to postpone the procedure or continue as required.

Colleagues, we ask you to please screen patients for symptoms and possible contacts and inform us if there is any risk so we can protect ourselves and staff

This will continue for the duration of the lock down period and we will advise if the situation changes.
